Gruyères

Today’s adventure was Gruyère and the Château de Gruyères. On a hill overlooking this entire area is the Gruyère Castle. Along with the castle is a small medieval town with museums, shops, and restaurants. It was a good way to spend the day. Most of our time was spent in the castle. We downloaded the app and enjoyed the audio tour along with the virtual reality graphics in each room. After the boys went through the HR Giger Museum. This artist is best known for the Alien movies, which C has been enjoying lately. The girls decided shopping seemed more fun and enjoyed the shops. We all met up for a wonderful meal at Fleur de Lys.

After our time in Gruyeres we headed up into the mountains and found a hiking trail the included the Pont Turrian suspension bridge. We hiked a bit along the river and found a cool spot to play in the water. As we heard a thunder storm approaching we headed back to our car and our apartment. Except for the hail as we were driving we enjoyed the early evening thunder storm. We do not get these in CA so when one happens during our travels we make sure to take the time to enjoy. After the storm passed we took a sunset walk around Bern where we saw both cows and sheep.
