Denali Nation Park Day 2

We started our day back at the visitor center to finish Jr. ranger books and get badges. Then it was off to a small hike around the trails close to the center.

We waited excitedly for the Science Center to open at 12 and explore there. What we found though was a small amount of information and books. After about 10 minutes the kids were through the center and ready to move on.

We had a East Fork bus ride in the afternoon so we took some time to rest from the constant wind in the car before our scheduled time. Currently a rock slide has taken out part of the Denali Ribbon Road that cuts through 90miles of the park. Unfortunately the rock slide makes it impossible to go past East Fork which is in the 40 miles in area. It would have been nice to see the entire road but it would have been a 10 hour drive which is a lot with our kids. The 5 hour ride was enough for us to get into the park and see some animals. during our drive we saw caribou, red squirrels, dall sheep, a baby raven, and a golden eagle.

Our bus got us back to the center at 7 and we headed home for dinner and to pack back up. Tomorrow we move on back to Anchorage where our Alaska adventure began.
